Green Heat Network Funding Application

Project Overview

Cleantech & Energy provided end-to-end support to Gren Energy Ltd. in the development and submission of a successful Green Heat Network Fund (GHNF) application. Our role was instrumental in shaping a comprehensive, fundable proposal that met the scheme's technical, economic, and delivery-readiness requirements. We worked closely with Gren to develop all critical supporting documentation, ensuring the application aligned with GHNF expectations and funding criteria.

Our Role & Deliverables

Techno-Economic Feasibility Study

Cleantech produced a detailed feasibility report that assessed lifecycle cost and carbon performance, evaluated technical options, and included:

  • Cost-benefit analysis

  • Network design schematics and spatial layouts

  • Interconnection and infrastructure assessments

Strategic Business Case Development

Cleantech crafted a technical memo supporting the business case with:

  • Technology selection rationale

  • Energy centre siting decisions

  • Projected carbon and efficiency benefits

Programme Planning & Mobilisation Readiness

Cleantech delivered a clear programme and mobilisation strategy including:

  • Consultant and contractor procurement plans

  • Heat source and pipe route approvals

  • Planning consents and land ownership documentation

  • Key construction milestones and customer connection timelines

Customer Load & Tariff Analysis

Cleantech undertook a full demand analysis to support tariff modelling and network design:

  • Building-by-building thermal consumption (kWh)

  • Peak thermal demand (kW)

Risk Management

Our live risk register provided:

  • Identification of technical and delivery risks

  • Mitigation strategies and programme implications

CP1 Compliance Assurance

We ensured full CP1 compliance through:

  • Completed compliance checklists

  • Ongoing adherence statements for procurement and construction phases

Z-Factor & Heat-to-Electricity Ratio Justification

A technical briefing was prepared outlining:

  • Justification for proposed heat-to-electricity ratio

  • Heat source operating parameters and carbon performance metrics

Innovation & Carbon Reduction Narrative

We highlighted the project’s innovative features, including:

  • Smart controls and system efficiencies

  • Future-proofing measures and policy alignment

Future Expansion Planning

We prepared a long-term expansion strategy covering:

  • Growth zones and connection-readiness

  • Scalable plant and pipework infrastructure

  • Stakeholder engagement for ongoing development
